Perhaps a compromise? We could make two legislature, and one made of elected representatives, while the other one made of the People. The People's legislature would have the power to overrule decisions made by the elected legislature, while the vice versa would not be true.

Thats an idea I could get behind, love it Edit to elaborate: We need some way through which all members are represented directly, because no sovereign state can be made to accept decisions made without their government being represented.

If the people can overrule decisions, why can't it just go straight to them?

Direct Democracy is key to providing legislation that are aligned with the public's interests. A representative democracy is made up of people elected by the people. Which is why elections are very important and if they are not doing what you want them to then you get rid of them its pretty simple.
